NewYork Presbyterian Partners with Walgreens
Recently NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital announced that it will be partnering with Walgreens to offer virtual health services in select Walgreens. The services will be provided via the Walgreens website and at private, self-services kiosks. The collaboration builds on Walgreens’ efforts to expand their virtual health capabilities which include a partnership with MDLive in dozens of states.
The new endeavor between NYP and Walgreens aims to expand the reach of NYP into many of the local communities where their patients currently reside. The kiosks also offer medical devices to measure additional patient vitals including a thermometer, blood pressure cuff, and a pulse oximeter in addition to the standard video capabilities. While only one location currently is up and running, NYP and Walgreen plan to launch more locations in early 2018.
While the program currently only will offer visits with Weill Cornell Medicine emergency medicine physicians, pediatric emergency medicine physicians will also available during more limited hours as well as physicians from ColumbiaDoctors who will join the program in 2018.
