In Memoriam: Todd Puglise, Director, Data Operations, Sg2
It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of Sg2 Director Todd Puglise on April 12, 2020. Todd’s journey to the Sg2/Vizient family began when he and his father started a company called Information Management System (IMS) in the 1980s, which provided market share analysis and forecasting tools for hospitals—similarly to how Sg2 serves its members today. IMS was acquired by Accuro Healthcare Solutions in the early 2000s, and by way of a series of subsequent mergers, Todd came to join the Sg2 team in 2014.
Todd’s colleague, Sg2 Associate Vice President AJ Fadel, shared a story to illustrate not only Todd’s impact on him, but also Todd’s impact on Sg2 and Sg2’s members.
“Whether it was his seemingly endless quips or signature Hawaiian shirts, the thing that I will remember most about Todd was just how passionate he was for the work we did. In recent years, as his health deteriorated, he would find himself having to be admitted to his local hospital more frequently. Yet almost invariably, he would call me from the ICU to let me know that he had snuck his laptop in so he could finish up whatever it was he was working on at the time. Although I would remind him that his priority should be getting better and not to worry about anything ‘work related,’ he would simply chuckle and tell me that to him it never felt like ‘work.’ This was true to the very end—the day before he passed away, he sent me an email with a link to CMS’s announcement about the new COVID-19 diagnosis codes, urging me to update our CARE Family and DRG groupers so we could better help our members.”
Our condolences go out to Todd’s family, friends and his team at Sg2. He will be greatly missed.
Todd was a volunteer and supporter of the Guardian ad Litem Foundation which advocates for abused, neglected and abandoned children in Florida’s dependency system. In lieu of flowers or other memorials, all are welcome to make a donation to the foundation in Todd’s honor here.
