Ryota Terada

Director

As part of Sg2’s Intelligence team, Ryota supports Sg2’s financial strategy thought leadership related to federal and state payment and policy dynamics, revenue growth, physician alignment and value-based care. In his current role, he supports health system executives and suppliers as they navigate an uncertain and rapidly evolving landscape through future-focused research and data insights shared through publications, webinars and facilitated discussions. He also contributes to projects including the annual development of Sg2’s Economic Index, as well as its Inpatient and Outpatient Hospital-Specific Payment Calculators.

During his tenure at Sg2, Ryota has contributed to a variety of service line and topic areas including orthopedics, spine, value-based care, service distribution, ambulatory strategy, site neutral payment, MACRA, Medicare Advantage and more. He has also collaborated with a wide range of providers leveraging analytics and Sg2’s proprietary data sets to create forward-looking models around clinical and resource needs to support evaluation and prioritization of emerging strategies and care models.

Prior to joining Sg2, Ryota worked as a research lab assistant at the University of Florida’s College of Medicine. His work primarily supported research in cardiovascular development and contributed to multiple peer-reviewed articles based on this research. His passion in care delivery reform was sparked by a public health internship in Nicaragua, where he focused on understanding the wide-ranging challenges of a health center serving a community with limited infrastructure and resources.

Ryota earned his BA in biological sciences with a physiology concentration from Northwestern University. He currently lives in San Francisco with his wife and overenthusiastic doggo. He enjoys cooking for his family and friends, camping, and traveling.
