Sg2 to Present at Society for Healthcare Strategy & Market Development Conference

Skokie, Illinois (September 12, 2016) – Sg2 today announced that it will be copresenting on the topic of “Freestanding Observation Care” at the Society for Healthcare Strategy & Market Development 2016 Connections conference (SHSMD) on September 13 in Chicago. Sg2’s Lisa DiSanto will partner with Susan Wyman, Oncology Business Director, Saint Joseph Mercy Cancer Services & Mercy Health (SJMHS), to discuss this innovative care model for outpatient observation services.

Observation services, as defined by Medicare, are short-term treatments and assessments provided to outpatients to determine whether they require further treatment as inpatients or can be discharged. The concept of freestanding observation care is to create a short-stay center that provides inpatient-like services and care for less than 24 hours in an outpatient environment with the same quality/outcome standards at lower cost. The presentation will provide insights into the pilot of this model of care by SJMHS and Sg2 analysis of how it can fit into a health system’s overall strategic plan for cost effective care delivery.
