What does this mean for stroke care? Greater emphasis on targeted prevention among high-risk populations will be imperative to address increasing mortality and rising complexity, highlighting the need for cross–service line collaboration (eg, with primary care/chronic disease, cardiovascular/ electrophysiology programs, community organizations).
Further, stroke programs must expand or refine offerings built around patients—especially those tailored to reflect the needs of younger stroke survivors—and address market-specific social determinants of health.
