The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation has launched the Enhancing Oncology Model (EOM) to enhance the quality of care provided to cancer patients covered under Medicare Traditional while reducing Medicare fee-for-service expenditures, with nonbinding applications for the new program due by September 30, 2022. In this week’s Sg2 Perspectives, we’re joined by Sg2 Associate Principal Keely Macmillan who discusses the differences between EOM and the previous Oncology Care Model, why health care organizations should consider participating, and how EOM can assist with organizational health equity initiatives.

Nicole and Trevor focus particularly on the deliberate partnership between CHI Memorial’s parent system, CommonSpirit Health, and Morehouse School of Medicine to bring more physicians of color to the communities of color that CommonSpirit Health serves across the country, with CHI Memorial in Chattanooga being the first hospital to welcome Morehouse School of Medicine students.
